Argentinian pastries gained their names thanks to a bakers' union formed by italian anarchists in the late 1800s. they used the pastries to mock the military, the police and the church, naming the pastries 'bolas de fraile' (friar's balls, AKA nun's sighs), 'canoncitos' (little cannons), 'vigilantes' (a slur for cops), 'bombas' (bombs), among others.
